Designing goals for 2022
You can almost guarantee that if I go quiet around here it is because I am engrossed in my crafting. And that is certainly the case at the moment.
I have been commissioned by Hobbii to design a blanket for them, and as you may guess that takes some time not just to think of the ideas but to create the sample, ensure all the components fit together in stitch counts, size and visual appearance, and that the instructions are able to be followed by crafters.
I’ve chosen the viola / pansy flowers as my inspiration for this design, with a palette of purples, greens and yellows.
I’m pleased to say that testers have already started work, and I’m trying to keep ahead of them with the final design elements. Those border elements really do absorb time when crocheting.
The pattern should be available from Hobbii in the Spring.
With another design in the bag for publishing late Spring, and some lace weight knitted mittens on the needles that I should really write up, my head is full of other ideas for yarn, bobbin lace, cross stitch / blackwork and quilting - and whether the designs and geometric shapes from one medium can be brought into other forms. I just need twice as many hours in each day to make it happen!
